Tinted Moisturisers - The Lo Down

First and foremost Happy Easter to everyone who celebrates it! I can certainly say I've celebrated in style devouring any chocolate that came in to sight. Did I mention I had to sit next to this bad boy at work (one more mini egg won't hurt). I can officially say I've gone off chocolate.

Back to tinted moisturisers......

What are they, why do we need them, are they better for us????

I'm sure some of you out there must be thinking the same thing about tinted moisturisers so, I thought I would help enlighten you all and give you the tinted moisturiser lo down.

I recently purchased Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturiser in Medium as I wanted to know what was so good about tinted moisturisers in general starting with the What?

What: Tinted moisturisers are a multi tasking as the name suggests it tints and it moisturises and protects your skin. It's not as thick as foundation and gives a sheer coverage. It's easy to put on in hot weather and the Bobbi Brown one I've purchased includes SPF15. With Spring just around the corner it's vital to keep thick foundation coverage to a minimum and let as much Vitamin D into your skin whilst protecting it.

Why: Bobbi say's
" A great foundation alternative that's perfect for summer or when you want a more casual look. This 3-in-1 moisturiser hydrates and protects skin while offering sheer, natural-looking coverage that blends smoothly. Thanks to emollients and skin-conditioning Jojoba Oil, this lightweight formula glides on easily and leaves skin feeling soft and supple. Ideal for normal and dry skin types."

Now we know what it is let's take a closer look......

I've used this on the weekends and can't fault it. It's most definitely moisturising and takes little effort to apply and would be perfect on a hot sunny day (if we ever get on). Feels extremely light on the skin and has a fresh scent about it!

Do you use Tinted Moisturiser? Which one is your favourite?

A girl can never own too much leopard print....

I got the inspiration for these eyes from Karla who works with MUA and thought I'd give them a go! **Excuse the bushy eyebrows my threading lady is on holiday : (

They are really easy to create and here is everything I used:

  • Sephora Moonshadow baked palette - I used  the gold on the top row and brown on the bottom right of this Sephora palette
  • Liquid Eyeliner - I used M.A.C and e.l.f cream liner in black
  • Pencil Eyeliner - M.A.C
  • High Lengths Mascara - Clinque
  • Brushes - Fearne Cotton range for boots and e.l.f cosmetics.
I'm not going to give you a step by step guide on how to recreate this look because the lovely Karla has done a splendid job over on the MUA blog here: http://muacosmetics.blogspot.com/2011/11/mua-goes-wild-with-leopard-print-eye.html

I love this Sephora Moonshadow baked palette as all the colours shimmer and sparkle once on and they are really pigmented. The best thing about this palette is that the colours can be used in the day or evening. My favourite is the gold on the top row.

I'm still getting to grips with the e.l.f cream liner I purchased when they had a special offer recently. It's really good at helping to add some va va voom and does gives a really strong finish.

The brushes I used were a mixture of the new e.l.f brushes I purchased (which I will be doing a post on later this week) and Fearne's brush range which can be purchased from boots. Both are really good and I love the leopard print design on Fearne's range.

I used a new mascara on my eyes today, High Lengths mascara by Clinique. I got it as a free gift with my purchases during their 'Bonus Time' offer. I didn't even have apply to many coats of mascara and it's worked really well in lengthening my lashes. However, it does feel weird using a comb to apply instead of a normal mascara brush.

Do you own any Sephora products? Would you like to see swatches from this set?

I spy with my little eye.......

E.L.F- Eyes, Lips and Face which sounds all to familiar/similar to Makeup, Art, Cosmetics! Well done to whoever came up with the name because you must be a lover of all things M.A.C too!

After coming across E.L.F and how similiar their brand name is to M.A.C it was only right to check them out! It's probably fate that I did because they're giving away a free gift on all orders over £15*!!

Recently, I've decided that I enjoy working with make up so much that I am going to start doing more makeovers on my family & friends to get better at it and eventually maybe even take a make up course with my BFF!

So...for this reason I've been looking in to make up brushes to practise different techniques and for 15 whole pounds I realised I can get more than a few make up brushes as some are only priced at £1.50 each. Plus the fact you get a free gift which is supposedly worth £15 and not available in the UK yet. Although they may not be the M.A.C of make up brushes for perfecting my technique they are defo worth the money! I already have basic eye shadow brushes but I've never invested in fancy looking ones to create smoky eyes or colouring in the crease around your eye.

So here is what I've ordered:

  • Eyeshadow C Brush
  • Small Smudge Brush
  • Smudge Eye Sponge
  • Eye Crease Brush
  • Angled Contour Brush
  • Blending Eye Brush
  • Cream Eyeliner - which comes with an angled brush.
I paid a total of £18.50 with delivery! Plus I get a free gift worth £15, I hope it's not make up brushes.

I'll post photos of the pretty eyes I create with my new kit!

*If anyone else is interested in taking up this free gift offer it's available until 28/11/11 and the codes are
